Ever run a marathon? It is my understanding you are supposed to pace yourself so you don’t run out of steam before crossing the finish line. I can’t speak from direct experience, as I’m a swimmer. [Personally, I believe running should be reserved for when being chased by a bear, as God intended.]. Whatever the event, pacing oneself is very important – which is something to think about between now and the end of the school year.
 
As discussed in past posts, some of us have a tendency to obsess, and although this is normal to some degree, obsessions can raise stress levels and lead to burnout. Lord knows there are tons of behaviors, and problems, and details to hold your attention, but if you don’t step away from the issues, your mental health will suffer, which is not what you want.
 
So after work, or at the end of the day, or on the weekend, make a promise to take a break from your stressors. Obviously, you can’t just ignore problems forever, but I believe it is by stepping away from our stress for mental health breaks that we are better able to pace ourselves and deal with them in a healthy manner. It’s a long crazy road winding down to the end of the school year, so be sure to pull over from time to time so you are able to complete the journey with minimal casualties.
